Marine Credit Union works hard to help members with their financial needs, but some needs can’t be met with loans or savings accounts. We started the Marine Credit Union Foundation to address those challenges and create meaningful, lasting change in our communities.
The MCU Foundation is committed to making an impact through charitable contributions and education. Since program inception in 2014, the Foundation has contributed more than $1.5 million to worthy causes in geographic areas served by Marine Credit Union. The Foundation supports a variety of local organizations and programs through:
Our members and employees donate time, talent, and funds to stock food pantries, build homes, honor our veterans, and much more.
Education is sometimes the most valuable service we offer. The MCU Foundation’s financial education counselors help people demystify credit, loans, and walk people toward homeownership through our Finding HOME program.
In August, friends and partners of MCUF hit the links for the ninth annual MCU Foundation Golf Outing. The event raised more than $150,000 to support Foundation operations.
The MCU Foundation Annual Golf Outing began in 2015 to further our mission of making an impact in the communities we serve. Today, the outing is the Foundation’s largest fundraiser supporting Community Giving and Finding HOME.
The golf outing has become one of the most anticipated credit union fundraising events in the tri-state area. Funds raised through the event support financial education programming and critical resources for community organizations. Since its start, the golf outing has increased its fundraising by nearly 200%. Over the last nine years, the event has raised more than $900,000 in total.
The outing also brings together credit union vendors, avid golfers, and those served by the Foundation’s programming. This year, more than 140 golfers participated in the event at the Golf Course at Cedar Creek Country Club in Onalaska, Wis. The event was sponsored by generous donors, including Allied Solutions, MOKA, COOP, EO Johnson and Howie’s.
More than 40 Marine Credit Union employees volunteered their time at the MCU Foundation Golf Outing. The efforts of our team helped raise awareness among credit union members, partners, and the community about financial trauma and how we all can help.
“The Outing is a great way to fundraise for future programming whilst celebrating the Foundation’s successes with our most committed supporters,” said the MCU Foundation’s Executive Director, Quinn Devlin. “It’s incredible to have the opportunity to spotlight the ways in which the Foundation makes a difference. Financial education can be that rising tide that lifts all boats; for many, it can be a positive feedback loop of hope for the future.”
